Hello on this Wednesday, April 25, 2007. I'm Kristin Volk with a UPI headline update. Astronomers have discovered a new planet that could support life. The planet is called Gliese 581 C, and scientists say it's the most Earth-like planet outside our solar system. Gliese 581 C has a temperature similar to Earth's to have life and liquid water. It's nearly 21 light years from where we live, and astronomers say it'll be an important target in future space missions when searching for extra-terrestrial life. Russians and foreign dignitaries are paying their respects to Boris Yeltsin. Masses of people packed a Moscow cathedral today for the funeral of Russia's first democratically elected president. Former US presidents George HW Bush and Bill Clinton, Britain's Prince Andrew, and former Soviet and Polish presidents were among those in attendance too. Russian President Vladimir Putin is declaring today a national day of mourning. Somalia's government is withholding vital aid to tens of thousands of people as the country plunges into crisis. CNN reports that in less than a month, nearly 15 hundred people have died from car bombs and street fighting. The Somali government and its Ethiopian allies are trying to quell a growing Islamic insurgency but civilians are getting caught in the crossfire.
